Non-Profit and Government Forum Highlights

This past month NCAC hosted a Non-Profit and Government Forum. Job seekers were invited to attend and come prepared with questions for our panelist. Our panel typically includes HR professionals and /or professionals who have played a role in the hiring process within their organizations. We had a great team of experts here that day.

Our panel included:

Matt Gloster – Goodwill

Jane Madden – Metropolitan Government of Nashville

RJ Sherr – State of Tennessee

Malinda Hersh – Hands on Nashville

Bob Obrotha – TN College Access & Success Networks

The event was a huge success! The room was packed with job seekers eager to learn more about non-profit and government sectors. They were all prepared and asked great questions ranging from how to apply for a government job to what job skills are required when applying for a non-profit job.

Here is a snapshot of some of the advice our panelists shared:

“Follow up and follow through. It never hurts to send a thank you letter after an interview”

“Put together a good cover letter. It’s is your 30 second commercial about yourself, make it count.”

“If you have done volunteer work during a period of time that you didn’t have a job, put that on your resume.”

Our panelist shared great resources for job seekers. Below is a list of helpful websites along with each organizations page to use as resource.
