Hundreds Attend Military Job Expo Held At LP Field

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A job fair was held Thursday to help veterans and military service members who are out of work. Hundreds attended the career expo at LP Field.

Dozens of companies and employers were on hand for Nashville’s Recruit Military Veterans Opportunity Expo. Everything from big corporations to universities, even organizations like the Secret Service and NASA were talking with veterans to give them an opportunity for a new career.

“You can do a lot of hunting online but when they have an opportunity like this specifically for veterans to come down, it’s geared towards our backgrounds I think it’s a great chance to get out and see what’s available,” said Rick Grint, who attended the fair.

The Labor Department showed unemployment for veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan hitting just over 21 percent.

Organizers urged those attending to be sure and visit all of the booths, have several resume copies on hand, and speak with education recruiters.
